5+1 FIVE PLUS ONE

It started as a punishment for us during the summer holidays: misbehave and we were sent to work in our family´s shoe factory. The same factory in Portugal, where our shoes are now made.

But it wasn’t long before it became our passion: making shoes properly. Using only the best materials. Nothing unnecessary in the design. Made by hand, always.

Based in Berlin. A place where the queue for a club at 6 in the morning or an inflatable dinghy full of legs drifting along the canal are better than any catwalk. For us to learn from.

Berlin is a city of adaptation. A city of factories as clubs. Airfields as parks. Warehouses as galleries. Bridges as gig venues.

People like us, from all over the world, adapt to its chaos. We use the city, to make things that haven’t been seen before. Then we give what we’ve made back.

And why 5plus1? That’s the main five elements of the shoe. Outsole. Insole. Upper. Lining. And the last. The five things that, above all else, you have to get right.
