Awareness & Consciousness

Awareness & Consciousness was launched by Christiane Gruber in 2005. A key element of her sensuous and soft flowing collections is the use of quality jersey materials. All items undergo a handmade bleaching and special dyeing process, which creates unique patterns and color combinations. As a result each piece is one of a kind.

Christiane Gruber studied fashion under Raf Simons, Victor&Rolf and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2002, she was honored with the fashion award by Austria’s Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture which allowed her opportunities abroad working for designers that include Haider Ackermann and A.F.Vandevorst.

From 2005 to 2009, she presented her collections during Paris Fashion Week. Awareness & Consciousness received the Ringstrassen Award in 2007 , the Vienna Fashion Award in 2008 and the International PR Award by Unit F in 2009. Since
then, Gruber has been developing a new concept to create smaller lines that integrate timeless elements and exclusive pieces, all of which are produced in her Viennese studio.

In Autumn 2012, Christiane Gruber launched A&C BASIC, a second also hand-dyed collection of accessories and baby onesies created with organic cotton.

The latest Summer 2014 collection CRYSTALIZED EDITION creates a perfect family picture, with garments to dress the entire family in the same design—summer dresses, jumpsuits, and basics for mother and child alike, as well as some unisex basics for men. The collection’s patterns are inspired by natural elements such as stones and crystalline structures set in a diversity of colors: yellow, brown, beige and bronze tones with grey, green and purple shades.
