Burton Snowboards was founded by Jake Burton Carpenter in a barn in Vermont (USA) in 1977. Ever since then Jake dedicated his life to snowboarding.Burton plays a central role in the history of snowboarding and its development from a backyard hobby to a world-class sports due to his innovative product lines, his team of top riders and his aim for acceptance of snowboarding in winter sport resorts worldwide.

Today Burton designs and manufactures market-leading products for snowboarding and the associated lifestyle, including snowboards, boots, bindings, outerwear, layer garments, as well as the year-round ranges of apparel, backpacks, bags and accessories.
The privately owned company of Jake and his wife, Burton President Donna Carpenter, is based in Burlington, Vermont (USA), with international subsidiaries in Austria, Japan, Australia and California.
