In 1998, after a bad haircut, Eugenia Kim created a bold feathered cloche to wear as a disguise. Boutiques in her downtown New York City neighborhood immediately took notice of her inventive design and soon after Barneys New York placed their first order and the Eugenia Kim brand was born.
Launching as a millinery collection, the brand has since grown to include other accessories such as scarves, gloves, belts and shoes. In 2004 Eugenia was awarded the honor of 'Accessories Designer of the Year' by the CFDA.

Eugenia Kim was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and later attended Dartmouth College with plans to become a doctor. After graduating in 1996 and deciding to not pursue a medical career, Eugenia moved to New York City and enrolled at Parsons School of Design.
In 1998, after creating an inventive feathered cloche disguise to cover up a bad haircut, Eugenia was immediately approached by multiple downtown boutique owners inquiring about her unique pieces. Soon after, Barneys New York placed their first order marking the official beginning of the Eugenia Kim brand.
Major attention from other luxury retailers and global fashion publications immediately followed heralding her fresh, innovative point-of-view and in 2004, Eugenia was awarded the honor of 'Accessories Designer of the Year' by the CFDA.
Today the Eugenia Kim collection is available in more than 200 luxury retailers worldwide and regularly seen in the pages of major fashion press, including Vogue, W and ELLE magazines.
