Ivo Nikkolo is one of the oldest and most unique Estonian designer brands in the Baltics. Being established in 1994 the collections have served Ivo Nikkolo’s firm handwriting since the very beginning with its feminine glamour and masculine confidence. During Soviet time consumers previously used to modest life now started to value quality design, the ideas of the designers in Estonia grew in confidence. The first fashion house in the Republic was born.
Ivo Nikkolo, Kirke Aron and Jüri Siim took a bold step considering the time and created a clothing line for both men and women and, despite Ivo Nikkolo’s modesty, named it after him. In 1994 they opened their first boutique in Tallinn.
Strong vision has been visible in Ivo Nikkolo from the beginning. Women’s collection has been aimed at a busy, self confident woman who appreciates classic yet unexpected details which offer emotional tenseness.
In 1996 the brand expanded to Finland and in 1998 the grasp extended further – to Sweden. Ivo Nikkolo was exposed next to other prestigious European fashion brands in the NK mall. When Ivo Nikkolo joined Baltika Group in 2006 the main purpose of this move was to develop and expand brand even more. In five years the number of boutiques has tripled and the collection is now present in 38 sales points in Baltics, Scandinavia and Russia.
It has been evident that in all countries where Ivo Nikkolo is being sold there is a fan base to the brand of women who value untraditional classic, luscious fabrics and exclusivity in details.
Ivo Nikkolo’s small yet busy team, run by head designers Eve Hanson and Britta Laumets, has followed Ivo’s original handwriting and is focusing only on womenswear. Men’s fashion has been left to Baltman.
Ivo Nikkolo himself as well as Eve Hanson have both been awarded an Estonian fashion design award ‘Kuldnõel’ for collections of the year. They are both fond of using simple feminine line combined with exclusive fabrics. The brand is not only much loved and appreciated in Estonia and in other Baltic countries but also a world known fashion forecasting site WGSN has credited Ivo Nikkolo by choosing its campaign to one of the world’s best.
