Junk de Luxe is a Danish menswear brand with roots in underground culture and vintage clothing, creating new modern classics in a mix with fashion forward street styles.
Launching its first collection in 1992, Junk de Luxe originally started as a clothing store in the city of Aarhus back in 1986, being one of the first in Europe to import original vintage Levi’s jeans from the US, redesigning them and selling them along with other vintage items. The vintage designs have since become a smaller part of the Junk de Luxe brand but still represent its core identity; creating fashion out of contradictory elements. Contradictions also symbolized in the name Junk de Luxe.
The original inspiration for the Junk de Luxe brand and design was the beatniks. The beatniks arose from the 40’s and 60ies US beat-generation – a generation inspired by writers and poets like Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs who made existentialism popular. Adopting the existentialistic belief, the beatniks applied this belief to their wardrobe and created their own recognizable expression with clothing items like turtleneck sweaters, worn slacks or jeans and crumpled corduroy jackets. English tailoring became part of street wear existentialism and vintage fashion was born!
In 2012 Junk de Luxe changed ownership, which marked a new beginning for the brand, however still maintaining the core identity and well-known design profile of Junk de Luxe. The art of combination is embedded in the brand, creating fashion for both the urban gentleman and the stylish street guy. The designs are authentic, sharp and always of high quality bringing you signature pieces from the classic tailored suit to redesigned vintage items.
Especially the tailored suit will, with the new beginning, be characteristic of Junk de Luxe, producing high fashion suits that are able to compete with the best on the market in terms of fitting, quality and design. Despite the roots in some of fashion history’s great classics Junk de Luxe dares to be different, and in every collection you will see surprising and refreshing details hand in hand with bold design choices in pattern, colour and fabric. We aim to make a statement without overpowering the individual expression.
Today Junk de Luxe produces 2 annual collections sold in countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Germany, UK, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Australia, Russia and Singapore.
